Tomamania: A Festival

Branding/Visual Identity

Tomamania (Pronounced tow-ma-mania) is a fictional festival dedicated to celebrating tomatoes. It started off as a crazy idea - now it might have become the weirdest festival (fictional or non-fictional) you have ever heard of. The concept was inspired by the world’s biggest Tomato Fight La Tomatina in the Valencian town of Buñol, in the east of Spain, in which participants throw tomatoes and get involved in a tomato fight purely for entertainment purposes. This fictional festival features vendors and dining spaces, selling fresh tomatoes and tomato-related products, and tomato-based cuisine from all over the world.

Background

To bring passionate people around to celebrate this wonderful fruit. Establishing the brand identity of this experience and promoting it through printed and digital materials. To provide all that’s needed for potential customers to enjoy the experience.

Objective

Approach

To design a series of printed and digital materials using special print production and branding techniques.

The main component for the printed production of this project is the welcome package. Inside, there is a greeting card, the VIP ticket to the festival, temporary tattoos as entry passes, of a sample of locally-grown and organic sun-dried tomatoes for snacking. This welcome package embodies the rustic, fun, healthy yet luxury nature of the festival.

Brand Standard Guidelines

Digital Design Guide

I created a brand standard guideline and a digital design guide for the digital compartment of this project. These guides establish of rules and specs for the making of the Tomamania brand, which aid the making of web interfaces for promoting the festival.
