The Virtues and Spirits of Design

Print Production

Editorial Design

Some Virtues of Design was an article published by German designer Gui Bonsiepe. It talks about aspects of values that in his opinion are considered virtues of making good design. After reading it, my initial thought was that the article was wordy and lengthy. Despite its nature of being tough to comprehend, it is truthful and structured. American graphic designer Paula Scher has an episode from the Netflix documentary series: the Art of Design. Her monologue, unlike Bonsiepe’s article, was whimsical, easy to digest, and filled with clever metaphors. In the show, she talks about her upbringing and experience in the design world.

I decided to combine and edit these two pieces of text and visualize the most valuable information from them.
